DVD review: Premutos - Der gefallene Engel (1999)

He was the first fallen angel- even before Lucifer. He has been summoned forth throughout history to wreak grisly destruction upon humankind. He is the Lord of the Living Dead, and his bloodthirsty reign on Earth is about to begin again. He is Premutos, and he will tear more than your soul apart. Premutos - Der gefallene Engel is written and directed Olaf Ittenbach, he also plays the character Mathias and is behind the make-up fx. The acting isn´t very good, it´s amateurish and partly mediocre. The camerawork and editing is good. There is much intentional and also some unintentional comedy. Premutos - Der gefallene Engel is a freakin gorefeast and bodycount is high, very high. Yet again Olaf Ittenbach delivers tons of carnage and gore. A lot of decapitations, mutilations, zombies being shot with handguns or shotguns, use chainsaw and so on. The creature make-up fx design is cool and it´s practical stuff. There is some T & A, including topless nudity and a prolonged sexscene.  Premutos - Der gefallene Engel has been released as Premutos - Lord of the living dead in the Scandinavian countries and in the USA.
This review is based upon the Region 2 DVD release from Njuta Films, it´s uncut has the original audio and english subtitles.
Rating: 7 out of 7. Premutos - Der gefallene Engel is probably as close to a cinematic orgasm as a gorehound can get. It´s packed with gore, and it´s fantastic practical make-up fx work from Ittenbach and his friends. Ittenbach succesfully manages to mix horror with comedy which seldom works according to me. It´s a very entertaining, extremely gory and very funny movie that gets my highest recommendations.
